The Spring 2023 ENGAGE Fair was a massive success in our books! We accomplished many "firsts" during this fair:
First time partnering with another organization (City of Laguna Niguel Youth Committee) to host the fair at their location.
First time hosting the fair at a location other than Dana Hills High School.
First fair with our new social media team members (Eve and Maddie did a fantastic job!).
First time we invited elementary and middle school students to attend the fair.
First time our incoming Co-Presidents (Anusha and Apoorvi) did most of the work in running the fair and I (Sophie) served as more of a mentor alongside our adult advisor, Cricket.
With all of those firsts, I am so proud of how this team is coming together. We have proved now for the 4th time that this the ENGAGE Fairs are resource that both students and community organizations want. You can read more about the Spring 2023 Fair at this article by Lou Ponsi CUSD Insider.
This fair was a little bittersweet for me as it was the last ENGAGE Fair that I will manage: I have just graduated from Dana Hills High School and am heading to Atlanta to study Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. However, I could be more excited to pass ENGAGE onto its future leaders, and Co-Presidents, Anusha Misra (incoming junior at Dana Hills High School) and Apoorvi Singh (incoming junior at Tesoro High School). Starting ENGAGE, I knew that if I wanted our mission to carry on past my time in high school, I needed to search out and prepare my successors from the beginning, and I seriously couldn't ask for a better pair of enthusiastic, empowered, and gritty young women.
